Most of us have heard the adage “Variety is the spice of life”, but do we really understand how it works? I believe that we are in a period of human evolution where this really comes to light.
I have been thinking about this for a while now. We see it in the media day in and day out, how someone either said or did something to offend others. Being consciously aware reveals the two sides; being an individual and being part of the group. Of course, much of the reports are biased and out of context but still the question is when do we focus on the individual or the group?
As I thought about it more and looked for guidance I was led to a conclusion. It’s not about judgment per se, but observation. We are all connected as a human race. As such, our evolutionary growth depends on maintaining that connection and nurturing it. Within that we have the contrast of physical, geographical, and cultural differences that enhance our existence on earth. So again, where do we place our focus? The answer is simple, we are connected as spiritual beings and that is first and foremost. Secondly, we add value to humanity by being different and offering new ways to see the same things. I see it like a salad; there are a lot of ingredients (lettuce, tomato, onion, water cress, etc…) and when combined provide one good taste. The conscious goal is to have the one taste (peace and love) with the combination of the ingredients.
By the way, I love salads
